Ms. Trumbull captures perfectly the world of the ultra-privileged Philadelphia 'society' and those who were a part of the Main Line culture. With real life accounts told from the point of view of someone who was even then, a rebellious young lady. In such a world, her progressive attitudes could have lowered her stock. Instead, they reflect the determination of a woman who was capable of growing beyond the limitations of her gender, and her era. Defying expectations, and doing it on her own, Ms. Trumbull tells the story of a remarkable woman driven by love and devotion to her family. An absolute pleasure!Product details

This is a very compelling, detailed account of a very interesting family history. It was so interesting to read of her account of her grandparents, parent's, and her family's history. The story unfolds to an unexpected climax leaving the reader feeling great empathy for Louise. Families are interesting animals and Louise's family story, from its beginnings in the days of railroad barons, to its end in strained reconciliation, provides the reader with a very intriguing, interesting, and insightful view of her family history. Definitely a GREAT read and highly recommended!
With every page you delve deeper and deeper into the life of Louise Trumbull and the world which she lived in. As soon as I picked up this book I simply could not put it down and it was finished within the same day. While one page made me burst out with laughter, another broke me down to tears. I believe that this is certainly a must read for every book lover, history lover or even to someone who is just a little bored needing something to do!
It was nothing better than o.k.
